WOR Legend, 77 year old Don Mintern, got his 7 Peaks Ride - The Alpine Ascent Challenge story in the paper!! Don rode the 7 Peaks in 2015 (and is ticking them off again this season) and when his friend Nick won the 2015 7 Peaks Major Prize - he joined him on our Nice to Alpe d'Huez Cycle Tour!
Don cycled with us all the way from the Mediterranean to the famous 21 hairpin bends of Alpe d'Huez in the heart of the French Alps (the long and hilly way via Mont Ventoux and numerous other mountain passes!). He cycled nearly 1000km and climbed 1000-2000m vert a day over 2 weeks. Scroll down to see a few pics of Don on the Tour - with the WOR crew at the start of the ride in Nice, after conquering Mont Ventoux (1912m!), at the top of the epic Col d'Izoard & enjoying the party atmosphere at "Dutch Corner" on Alpe d'Huez a day before the arrival of the Tour de France - all at age 75!!!
Don - you are an inspiration to us all and demonstrate how cycling is and can be a sport/recreation/transport/love for life! We welcome you back on tour any day and hope to see you out riding the 7 Peaks! Chapeau Don, Chapeau!
