Tour Highlights
Cycling Sardinia - an Italian island with outstanding natural beauty and a designated ‘blue zone’. We ride the Costa Smeralda’s scalloped bays and hidden coves and feast on seafood overlooking the Med. We explore the wild and rugged interior - steeped in tradition - with lush cork forests, remote stone villages and ancient Nuraghe.
Rest day in Bonifacio - the impregnable citadel perched on white cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean. Explore the historic centre, enjoy an apero at the port or go on our suggested coastal loop ride to visit picturesque beaches and coves. We depart Bonifacio by boat - the crossing to Sardinia via is spectacular as we say Au revoir France and Ciao Italia!
Corsica’s rugged and mountainous interior! We cycle 1500m high mountain passes, through pine forests and soaring granite escarpments with sweeping descents that plunge back to the Med! As we ride quiet mountain roads, wild pigs, goats and various other animals share the roads with us as we pass through tiny historic mountain villages.
The food and wine - a contrast of cultures and flavours. “Mare e monti” - from the incredible seafood of the coast to the hearty meats, cheeses and rustic traditions of the interior of Sardinia and Corsica. We taste Sardinia’s famous Vermentino di Gallura, a crisp aromatic white and Pietra - Corsica’s renowned chestnut beer! And of course there’s plenty of gelati
